Life Scientific was established by Nicola Mitchell as a campus company of University College Dublin (UCD) in 1995. Initially specialising in 5 batch analysis and regulatory affairs, the Company has evolved to the point where it can now carry out all stages of the product development and registration process.
Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, the company employs highly skilled and experienced development and regulatory specialists, and operates from GLP/GMP-certified facilities in both Blackrock and Dublin, Ireland.

Nicola Mitchell MSc MBA MTOPRA - CEO/Founder
Nicola set up Life Scientific Ltd in 1995 and is sole owner and CEO of the Company. A graduate of University College Cork (MSc Chemistry) and Fordham University, New York (MBA Finance), she has over 20 years experience in the crop protection industry. Nicola is at the forefront of the business, focusing on the strategic development of the Company, business development and relationship management.
Nicola is supported by the Management Team who, collectively, bring a range of key scientific and business competencies to the company.
Gerardine Costello PhD MBA - General Manager
MBA qualified PhD scientist with 11 years experience in research, business consulting and R&D policy. Responsible for the day to day operations and strategic development of the company.
Robert Williams BA PhD - Director of Product Development
A PhD Chemistry graduate of Trinity College Dublin, with almost 20 years research and industry experience, Robert is technical lead on all product development activities at Life Scientific.
Sharon Brady BSc PhD - Regulatory Affairs Manager
Qualified PhD scientist with 12 years experience encompassing regulatory affairs, quality assurance and laboratory management. Responsible for the registration of plant protection products throughout the EU.
James O'Donnell BSc - Laboratory Manager
With more than 10 years analytical chemistry experience in a variety of multinational laboratory facilities, James is responsible for the plant protection product laboratory operations at Life Scientific.
James Delaney BSc PhD – Supply Chain Manager
PhD scientist with 13 years experience in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical areas encompassing laboratory management, regulatory affairs, production and supply chain management. Responsibilities include: registration of plant protection products.
Cliona Casserly BSc, MSc - QA Manager
A graduate of DCU and TCD, Cliona is responsible for Quality Assurance in all Life Scientific client studies, and across all aspects of the company's operations.
Quality Systems
Life Scientific operates a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) based Quality System. All systems and procedures are outlined in company SOP’s and routine self-inspection ensures that internal systems and processes are adhered to during the course of work at Life Scientific..
The Quality Assurance Department carries out process-based inspections, which ensure that laboratory processes are regularly inspected. While this is primarily an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirement, the implementation of the process-inspections across both GLP and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) studies helps maintain continuity and assure the quality of all types of regulated studies at Life Scientific.
The Quality Assurance Department regularly participates in and hosts client facility inspections. Potential and existing clients are always welcome to visit and discuss our Quality System.

GLP Statement of Compliance in Accordance with Directive 88/320/EEC
Life Scientific are also licensed to be in possession of and test pharmaceutical controlled drug substances.

Commitment
Life Scientific is committed to complying fully with environmental legislation, we are continually looking for ways to minimise the impact of our operations on the environment. We encourage all staff to propose ways in which we can do so. The environmental implications of introducing new processes are carefully evaluated and cleaner technologies utilised where possible.
Training
Life Scientific actively promotes environmental awareness among employees through appropriate communication and training programmes.
Pollution Prevention
Life Scientific use processes, practices and materials, which avoid, reduce and control pollution wherever possible. We reduce, recycle and dispose of all waste in a safe and responsible manner.
Emergency Planning
We maintain contingency procedures to minimise the environmental effect of any potential incident.
